Title IX

Prohibition of Discrimination on the Basis of Sex

Kamiah School District 304 is committed to providing a working and learning environment that is free from gender and sex-based discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), its regulations, and certain other federal and state laws prohibit discrimination in such a manner. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex includes sexual harassment. Given this, the District prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any of its education or employment programs or activities. Furthermore, the District prohibits harassment and discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and pregnancy, as well as retaliation against individuals who report allegations of sex and gender-based harassment and discrimination, file a formal complaint, or participate in a grievance process.
Title IX’s requirement not to discriminate in any of the District’s education programs or activities applies to both students and employees and extends to both admission and employment. Students, employees, or other members of the District community who believe that they have been subjected to sex or gender-based harassment, discrimination, or retaliation should report the incident to the Title IX Coordinator, the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the United States Department of Education, or both, who will provide information about supportive measures and the applicable grievance process(es). Violations of this policy may result in discipline for both students and District employees.
